Isn't it ironic how chaos makes you appreciate serenity, unexpected obstacles cause you to pray like you never have before, and inconvenience and unmet expectations lead you to question and audit everything?
You tell yourself that if you could just understand why something happened, know what comes next, or see how everything will work out, you could finally exhale.
Fun fact: Anxiety will always try to convince you that peace is waiting on the other side of certainty.
Trust me, I get it. But over the years, I've learned something that has changed the way I perceive and navigate uncertainty, anxiety, life's tests, and discomfort.
It's embracing the truth that sometimes the answer you're looking for doesn't come through another explanation, proof of a desired outcome, or discovering a solution. More often than not, peace and clarity come through surrender.
Peace Doesn't Come From Control
The remedy to your anxiety, late-night overthinking, and internal conflict is not found by trying to control everything and everyone around you. The peace you long for is found by releasing what was never yours to carry or within your realm of control.
Obviously, that is much easier said than done, but ask yourself: What's the alternative?
After you've exhausted your efforts, created a slew of what-if scenarios that truly could write their own fiction novel, and stressed to the point that your body seems to be crashing-at some point, you have to let your faith tackle the fear as you learn to be still.
Life has a way of humbling us and forcing us to slow down and focus on what truly matters. It also has a way of reminding us that we are not God.
Whether it's facing health struggles, navigating the twists and turns of business and the market, or finding ourselves in situations where we have no choice but to let go, there will come times that lead us to recalibrate and remember Who is truly in control. We often accept that only after experiencing times when we feel we've lost control or composure.
Release and Reframe
Though it feels like punishment, from a spiritual view, it is revelation and pruning. It is forcing us to address our lives and ourselves in ways that only destruction, disorder, disappointment, and discomfort can teach us.
What needs to be addressed will be brought to light.
What we have suppressed within us will come to the surface to finally be faced and released. The programs and systems we have in place will not perform as they always did, and we will have to audit, adapt, and adjust to a new way of doing things. We will find ourselves grateful yet feeling unfulfilled because we know we are called for more.
We will be uncomfortable, but we will learn.
We will learn that when we can't force things, we have no choice but to let them flow; that holding on to pain will eventually show up in our bodies; and that believing we have to fix and control everything only causes us to lose some form of control ourselves.
A Lesson I'm Living
Although life has been filled with undeniable blessings, growth, and increase, to say that I haven't lost nights of sleep because of a divine discontentment surrounding my purpose, had to audit every aspect of my life, or gone through waves of emotion mentally, spiritually, and emotionally as this undeniable shift has unfolded would also be a lie.
Through it all, it's been life-changing and mindset-altering, not because everything became easier, but because I finally surrendered.
And when I say surrendered, I mean mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically, and in every area of my life. I stopped trying to force outcomes, cling to expectations, convince myself that certain traumas didn't deeply impact me, and carry insecurities that were never meant to define me.
I did the difficult inner work, released what I had been carrying, and accepted that if I truly wanted to align myself with everything I had been praying and preparing for, I had to loosen my grip on what's meant to be in God's hands.
Obedience Over Outcomes
When we stop demanding certainty and take those ordered steps and ordered stops, we make room for peace. We make room for all that we invested in to yield a return. We make room for healing and growth. We make room for order... for clarity... for better.
So, move forward with faith and focus.
Keep your sights on obedience instead of outcomes, trusting the next step instead of demanding the entire roadmap and believing that what you have been preparing and praying for will come to pass.
If you're in a season of uncertainty, give yourself permission to trust what God has revealed and accept and adapt to what is.
Sometimes the greatest breakthrough doesn't come from working harder, creating more, and resting less. It comes from keeping your faith and focus as you finally surrender what you've been trying so desperately to control.
Surrender isn't a one-time decision...it's a daily practice.
If today's message resonated with you, let it become more than something you read. The Peace & Release Bundle was created to help you release as you learn how to surrender control, reflect with intention, and move forward with greater peace.
